The Best Visit Ever!

I was blessed with the best gift any parent could have, seeing all your grown children together, healthy and happy. It was their first visit to see their dad in NC. They wanted to see how we live in Winston-Salem, so we visited our usual haunts and did some of our usual activities. They learned a little about our Moravian settlers in the 1700’s, and about southern hospitality and cuisine. Some of them got to feel what it’s like to jog and bike in 90+ degree heat and high humidity!  They also experienced a sudden rainstorm in the middle of a mountain hike. We had a wonderful dinner here at our house, and we had a chance to catch up with each others’ lives. The few days went all too quickly, but the memories will last me forever, or at least until I get senile! LOL

I’ll share a sentence or two from a letter I sent them after they left: “I love how the five of you enjoy each other’s company. I am extremely proud of the way you have all turned out to be good, intelligent, interesting, humorous, musical, productive, fun-loving people. (I could have listed more adjectives, but I was fearful of a reprimand from Kelly. Overuse of adjectives, or something. LOL!)”

  1. Excellent isn't a good enough word for this post, but it's the best I can do. I can so relate.

I'm waiting for you to put up your countdown to our upcoming bloggers cruise. Just saying.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. 🙂

  2. You have a lovely, happy family! You certainly have a lot to feel grateful about! How wonderful for you all to gather together.

  3. Heidi,

Thank you very much! And thanks for stopping by, my friend!

    Sandee,

It's a whole different deal when they're older, isn't it?

Still working on the cruise thing. Very excited about it! At least we already have our passports! 🙂

    Dawn,

Yes, we are blessed, aren't we?

    Dwight,

I liked this pic, too. Everyone was having such a good time, and they are all so relaxed and natural. It was great to be with them, but the time was all too short!

    Keli,

    Yes, very, very grateful! 🙂

    Mike,

    Thanks, bro! 🙂

  4. I love this pic! What a happy healthy bunch of kids (in the grownup sense).

And they are responsible for my meme today on the Queen's Meme. Great idea!
