The 2012 Make-A-Wish WAM 300

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is an organization that grants the wishes of children who are afflicted by life-threatening medical conditions. It was an honor and a pleasure to have again been involved in the major fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan, the Wish-A-Mile 300, affectionately known as the WAM 300. It was the 25th Anniversary for this challenging bicycle tour, in which participants pedal 100 miles daily for three days straight. Each participant is required to raise a certain amount of funds for Make-A-Wish. And we do it gladly because it is such a worthwhile cause and because it is such an awesome cycling event. You might enjoy this short YouTube video that gives you some idea of what this is all about.

As a group, we raised a huge amount of money that will go to grant about 270 wishes for the Make-A-Wish kids! I am grateful to all my friends and family who sponsored me for this event. Seriously, THANK YOU!

And best of all for me, my son Kevin was by my side, for all of those 307 awesome miles! This year, his friend Alex also joined us. I am so very proud of these outstanding young men. We will cherish the memories of this glorious weekend for the rest of our lives!

  1. I know so little about you, Ferd, but all that I know points to a huge heart.
Thank you for all that you do.
    With respect and gratitude,
    Christine

    1. Gosh, Christine, thanks. But I’m just a regular guy with an average size heart. Anyone of us who has kids can sympathize with sick children and their families. It brings me great satisfaction to think I have provided even a little joy in their lives. And it brings me much bigger joy to know that my son is of like mind. 🙂
