Making the best of it

The senior class trip is almost over. We’re right now on the 12 hour bus ride back to Winston. It will be SO great to be home! Non-stop sitting for special kids is not so special for the adults. But we did spend a pretty good day yesterday in NYC. The highlight for me was going back to the Statue of Liberty, just as awesome as when I went as a child with my parents. It was Gail’s first time seeing it.

There was a nice bus tour and then we split from the group for a few hours. We had Gail’s ring checked at Tiffany’s, walked around Rockefeller Center and Times Square, and stopped at St. Patrick’s on Holy Thursday. Then we had a nice dinner at Trattoria Trecolori before meeting back up with our group at the Shuman Theater to see the show “Memphis.”

All in all, an excellent day! I’m grateful.

  1. Sounds like a very busy day too. I got tired just reading everything you did. Being grateful is a great way to end the day too.

Have a terrific day and weekend. Happy Easter to you both. 🙂

Yes it was busy, but a good busy. The day was a sunny 65 degrees with a gentle breeze… perfect! People were out in full force in the city, which I think would be terrible to live in, but fun to see once in a while.

Happy easter to you, too! 🙂

We took a few pictures, and made a lot of memories!

Now it's time for that nap. I am tired! 🙂

It's a great city, isn't it!? So much to do! All you need is lots and lots of money and patience for the long lines that form everywhere!

Yes, the ride was much too long. They stopped every two hours for people to stretch their legs, etc. What could have been an 8 hour trip (long enough!) turned into 12!

Yes, the oxidizing copper gives it the greenish hue. What color had you imagined, I wonder?

You know, when I'm feeling negative, I have learned to look for reasons to be grateful. They always abound!

  4. Wow it sounds like it was a fun weekend. I haven't been to NYC for several years now and would love to go back. How lucky you were to have the PERFECT weather! Sounds like a long ride home though, bet you were happy to walk through your front door.
