Yeah, snakes give me the heebie jeebies, too! This one was about two feet long and just a bit slimmer than a garden hose. As you can see, it blended into the foliage really well. Fortunately, there aren’t too many poisonous species in NC, but there are some. In case I get bitten in the leg, I’ll have to teach Gail how to cut me, suck the poison out, then spit it out, like in the old westerns.
Ha. I just read that to Gail and she said, “Yuck. Looks like you’re going to die.” (Maybe I have too much life insurance.)
I don’t like snakes, but that’s a great capture!
Looks like he’s giving you the what for too. Way cool shot.
Have a terrific day. Big hug to you and Princess Gail. 🙂
I don’t think I could have stood still long enough to take something like this. 🙂
Wonderful composition – really nice shot!
I’m terrified of snakes. But that’s an amazing photo!
That’s a terrific shot of the green colored snake with the plants surrounding it. Happy Macro Monday
I don’t like spiders or snakes… 🙂
Great macro!
OK. So even though that snake looks harmless-ish, it’s a rattler in my brain.
What a beautiful snake and what a great picture!
Thanks for all your nice comments, everybody! 🙂

Such a great shot! Also, I’m really, really glad I never see any of those around here.
That’s the problem, they’re hard to see. I almost stepped on this one!
You probably have a few in Minnesota, but only for your two weeks of Spring, Summer and Fall. 😉
