We had a good birding morning today. We started early, in dense fog that gradually cleared to a beautiful day. It was a little cool at the start but warmed up fast, to 73 degrees! The frogs were noisy and the birds were active. We saw 19 species: Red-winged Blackbird, Eastern Bluebird, Northern Cardinal, Carolina Chickadee, American Crow, Canada Goose, Red-shouldered Hawk, Great Blue Heron, Blue Jay, Dark-eyed Junco, Mallard, Eastern Phoebe, American Robin, White-throated Sparrow, Tufted Titmouse, Eastern Towhee, Downy Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and Carolina Wren.
Most interesting was a Red-bellied Woodpecker that was actively digging out its nesting cavity. That was fun to watch!
I really like the way you write. Thanks to your birding posts, I am watching the birds here in Boca Raton with new delight!
You’re in a good spot for shore birds and a number of Spring migrants! 🙂
It was a lot of fun!
I’m glad you can walk again! 😀
