Gail, why so sseriouss?!
Gail and I spent a part of the afternoon at a Fourth of July celebration at Historic Bethabara Park in Winston-Salem. I learned a lot about the original Moravian settlers from back in the mid 1700’s! They were of German origin and kept meticulous records of all their plans and activities. The locals are proud of the Moravian heritage and have taken great pains to preserve the sites and the knowledge. There are regular reenactments. It was all pretty cool! (Well, sunny and 90 degrees, but you know what I mean.) It is truly amazing what our early settlers were able to do. I got a very good feel for what their life was like.
This was a very nice lady, all dressed up 1700’s Moravian stlye. I sure am glad Gail dresses in Gail-style!
That’s better, baby!
Gail style is far more attractive. Just saying. You two are a nice looking couple.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
Thanks, Sandee!
But that's only because I'm not in the picture! LOL
Interesting.
Whenever I have the dishwasher running, the washing machine washing, the oven baking while I vacuum, I wonder in awe at pioneer families accomplishing their tasks the hard way and am very grateful I live in the time that I do.
Looks like a wonderful trip! Gail has a lovely smile!

It was VERY interesting! It would be worth a trip to Winston-Salem just to see what life was like for our pre revolutionary war settlers.

Me, too! I admire what they accomplished, but am SO glad I have all the modern tools and gadgets. The Moravians planned and created cities in the 1700's out in the middle of nowhere! Where did they plug in to the internet?
I can't imagine living that lifestyle. How exhausted they must have been all the time…but then again, they did eat fresh foods and get plenty of sunshine, all without the ills of modern day pollution. Who needed botox back then?
Just sayin'…
Gail looks positively lovely!
Thanks, Mims!
Yeah, I'm sure they ate well and had plenty of sunshine. But I have McDonald's and the tanning booth at my health club. See, they had nothing on me! LOL
