Good Vibrations

Well I’m here in the Land of the Good Vibrations (and the occasional bad, earthquakey ones!), so far having a very good time. But dork that I am, it is because the conference is pretty good. This is not a pleasure trip or I would have brought Princess Gail. But I do enjoy learning, and my job has been one of The Best Parts of my life. I do medical conferences pretty regularly.

The flight was uneventful and on time, and I’m grateful for that, as we recently had 65 to 80 MPH wind gusts back home in Ohio, believe it or not due to hurricane Ike! So I arrived at LAX safe and sound, in case you were worrying. How the hell does Mimi take these self portraits? She looks alluring and mysterious, and I… well I don’t know what I look like, but it’s not alluring and mysterious!

I am at the UCLA Annual Geriatrics Conference and Board Review.

I am staying at a nice hotel in Marina del Rey, two blocks from the Pacific Ocean! I took a little walk along Venice Beach during one of our breaks. It is an overcast day in mid September, at noon on a work day, but there were still a few die hard surfers, and the usual joggers, bikers, and rollerbladers along the beach boardwalk. If you’ve ever been to LA, you’ll know how cool it is to have that walk extending through most of the LA beaches. My favorite part of it is in Santa Monica, but this is nice, too.

We talk all about old people at a geriatrics conference. So I’m thinking, if I ever grow up and get old, maybe this is where I want to be.
You can wheel me around in one of these:

While in LA, one should always be on the lookout for the rich and famous. My camera is at the ready. I haven’t yet spotted any stars brighter than myself, but I’ll keep looking! ; )
