Richard Childress is a NASCAR racing team owner. He also owns and operates one of the best wineries in North Carolina, Childress Vineyards. Lexington, NC is about a half an hour drive south of where we live. Today we took the little drive to see the place, have lunch, and taste a little wine. Key word “little,” because Gail and I are alcohol lightweights. We split a glass of wine and were both a bit loopy, then tired. But the wine was great! And the place was gorgeous! NC boasts about 100 wineries throughout the state, many award-winning. Little by little we will get to know at least our local ones.
Oooh, that place is gorgeous.
Sounds like a perfect day 🙂
Well… We all want to know what a “real” Princess drinks? The “E” channel is waiting…
How fun. We have a place called the wine country that has tons of wineries and we used to go wine tasting now and then. It was grand fun. Found lots of good wines just like you seemed to have done. A great outing indeed.
Have a terrific day. Big hug. 🙂

Yes, a gorgeous place, and pleasant weather. Not horribly hot for a change. 🙂
Elaine~
Practically perfect, anyway! A great way to spend a lazy afternoon! 🙂

Okay, I guess we’ve kept the “E” channel waiting long enough. We like to build suspense, you know. Princess Gail was drinking one of the Childress varietals, a Viognier. It was the recommended pairing to go with the crab cake appetizer and the honey glazed chicken salad with pecan croissant sandwich which we shared. How ’bout that! 🙂
Sandee~
OMG! You live in THE “wine country” area of the world! It is grand fun, isn’t it!? 🙂
Just for the record, Childress is still a NASCAR team owner. He owns:
The #29 – Driven by Kevin Harvick
The #33 – Driven by Clint Bowyer
The #31 – Driven by Jeff Burton
and in 2011 – Paul Menard will drive a fourth car for him.
Looks like you had a great time. That’s one of the destinations on Mrs. Rambler and my bucket list. :0)
I didn’t know that, Lee! Thanks for the info! Did they also have a car #3? I saw a little model of a car #3 and I figured it was their car.
You and Mrs. Rambler will enjoy the visit to Childress. And I noticed that he has his NASCAR museum in his hometown, Welcome, just up hwy 52 a couple of miles.
Looks like fun! I worked at a winery for a little while… had to leave before I became an alcohol heavyweight 😉
Dawn~
LOL, “alcohol heavyweight”
And really, you’re more like a flyweight! LOL!
