Arlington National Cemetery

Across the Potomac River and still within eyesight of our nation’s capital, is the final resting place of America’s finest, Arlington National Cemetery.

This is sacred ground.

A beautiful place befitting our fallen heroes and other Americans who served their country well.

Over 300,000 such patriots are buried here, and the number grows by about 7,000 each year.

Being buried in Arlington is an honor bestowed on the famous and just as importantly, the unknowns.

An unknown soldier representative from every war is buried and deeply honored at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Honor Guard stands watch over these heroes every minute of every day.

The inscription on the tomb reads, “HERE RESTS IN HONORED GLORY AN AMERICAN SOLDIER KNOWN BUT TO GOD.”

I am grateful for their service and sacrifice. Very grateful!

  1. The sheer numbers are sobering. Why do so many take our freedom for granted. Being a former military wife, I always thank any soldier I see for his service to our country. God bless the American soldier.

    1. I do the same thing!
I didn’t know you were a former military wife! There’s a lot to learn about each other! 🙂
