    I love the new lens!

It was SO worth it! :-)

Ooh, it’s lovely! And your snowman feeder is fantastic. :)

    • Ferd January 16, 2012 at 6:03 PM

      Thanks, K! :-)

Gail is always trying something new with the feeders. “Frosty” is a peanut feeder. Some of our local backyard birds appreciate it!

I can see why you like this new lens. The photographs are awesome.

Have a terrific day. Big hug to you both. :)

      Thanks, Sandee! :-)

Gail’s broken hip has relegated us to mainly backyard birding for a while. Can’t wait to try out the lens “in the wild!”

Beautiful beautiful beautiful! I love the snowman feeder too!

    • Ferd January 16, 2012 at 11:17 PM

Thank you thank you thank you, Katherine!!! :D

The world you two have created for your birds is just so beautiful. Between their home and your lens, I know we can expect great things! Thanks for the pics… : )

Thanks, Linda, but REALLY, Gail gets all the credit for that. She has a “green thumb” when it comes to attracting birds!

The new lens will be a lot of fun. We were already looking forward to the Spring migration. Now even more so! :-)

    That first picture is spectacular!

    • Ferd January 18, 2012 at 8:20 PM

That was my favorite, too! I like the natural surroundings. :-)

    OMYWORD – ahhhhhhhhhhhhhmazig.

I need a whole new camera. like immediately.

    • Ferd January 18, 2012 at 8:22 PM

Do you have a camera other than your point-and-shoot?

Our next project is to upgrade our DSLR. I bought it used on eBay a few years ago and it is definitely showing its age. I’m drooling for a Canon 60D. I think I’m going to sell one of my bikes in order to get it before our birding trip in late April.

Awesome shots, Ferd. I have the Canon 24-105mm IS lens and it is pretty much my “walking around” choice. I would love to add the 70-300mm to my arsenal, but then I’d have to find a new place to live, because Mrs. Rambler would throw me out.

      LOL!
It is a pricey lens, but we sold on eBay our 55-250 that we had been using for birding, and used the proceeds to go towards this lens. That way it didn’t cost us quite as much.
The extra 50mm from the 250 to the 300 makes a big difference at the typical birding distances, especially considering the small subjects.
